Nowhere Man: The tale of a photojournalist named Thomas Veil whose life was in a moment “erased”. After having a smoke in the bathroom of a restaurant one evening, Tom’s whole world disappears; he finds his wife doesn’t recognize him, his ATM cards don’t work, his best friend is found lying face up dead in a closet, and his mother conveniently has a stroke, rendering her unable to validate his existence. Tom is lead to believe that his erasure has something
to do with a photograph he took a year earlier known as “Hidden
Agenda,” which depicts four men being hanged to death by what appears
to be US Solders in South America. The only shred of evidence Tom has
from his past life is the negatives to Hidden Agenda, which he is hunted
for by a mysterious organization which Tom knows little about. Created by Larry Hertzog, Nowhere Man starred Bruce Greenwood, as Thomas Veil, and aired Monday nights on UPN in the ‘95-’96 season. Nowhere Man received rave reviews and critical acclaim by many critics, and it was commonly referred to as the "Coolest New Show of the Year" by critics. But, as with most good television shows that are showered with acclaim, it didn’t last long. In its first and only season, Nowhere Man chronicled the life of a man that had no past, while raising the bar with new levels of paranoia unseen on network television. |
